man gbuffy (Commandes) - watch multiple mailboxes for new mail

NAME

gbuffy - watch multiple mailboxes for new mail

SYNOPSIS

gbuffy [options]

DESCRIPTION

This manual page was written for the Debian GNU/Linux distribution because the original program does not have a manual page.

GBuffy is a graphical "biff" program written for the GTK+ framework. It displays a list of mailboxes, highlighting any mailboxes which contain new mail. It will also display the number of new messages in each monitored mailbox. It can monitor mailboxes in multiple formats, on multiple servers (using IMAP or NNTP).

Pressing the first mouse button (usually the left mouse button) on a mailbox with new mail will display the Sender and Subject of each new message. Additionally, GBuffy will display the X-Face header for messages which have them.

Pressing the second mouse button (usually the middle mouse button) on a mailbox will launch an external command which can be configured separately for each mailbox.

Pressing the third mouse button (usually the right mouse button) anywhere in the GBuffy window will bring up the configuration dialog box, where you can add new mailboxes to monitor, or change the monitoring and display settings for the mailboxes you are currently monitoring. box

GBuffy is capable of watching mbox, MMDF, maildir, and MH mailboxes (folders). There is also support for monitoring remote IMAPv4rev1 mailboxes and NNTP newsgroups (on servers supporting XOVER).

OPTIONS

The standard -geometry option for X is supported. GBuffy has no options of its own.

FILES

~/.gbuffyc
holds the list of mailboxes to monitor and their associated settings. This file is maintained by GBuffy and should not be edited by hand.

NOTES

Currently, GBuffy is alpha code. It is fairly stable, but it may contain memory leaks. Not all features are exhaustively tested.

GBuffy is conceptually based on XBuffy by Bill Pemberton, but it is a complete rewrite from scratch.
