kanatest - a beginner's drill tool to learn Japanese kana characters

SYNOPSIS

kanatest [options]

DESCRIPTION

Kanatest is a simple hiragana and katakana drill tool. It checks your knowledge about Japanese kana characters.

There are three drill modes:

- hiragana mode (hiragana charset only)

- katakana mode (katakana charset only)

- mixed mode (both charsets)

The tester shows random kana character and waits until you enter romaji equivalent in an entry field. At the end, statistics are provided.

OPTIONS

Kanatest accepts the following options:

-r : reset statistics

-s : displays statistics

-h : displays help text

FILES

Kanatest's data files are stored in ${prefix}/share/kanatest, where ${prefix} is set on install, but is typically /usr/local.

${prefix}/bin/kanatest - Program executable

${prefix}/share/kanatest - Location of system-wide installed datas

${prefix}/share/kanatest/hiragana - Hiragana charset

${prefix}/share/kanatest/katakana - Katakana charset

${prefix}/share/kanatest/romaji - Romaji charset

$HOME/.clay/kanatest - User's Kanatest configuration
