man newsflashconfig (Commandes) - configures newsflash
NAME
newsflashconfig - configures newsflash
SYNOPSIS
newsflashconfig
DESCRIPTION
Newsflashconfig builds the configurationfiles for newsflash from the active
file of inn. It reads all newsgroups except junk and control, splits them
up in groups of four writes this groups in files named list[1-9] and
writes the corresponding serverlistfile.
For every file containing four newsgroups there is a corrosponding file wich
the same newsgroups in disjunct order.
It will write a timestamp 24 hours ago in the serverlistfile, so the new news
from last 24 hours will fetched from the server given by the user during
the configuration.
If you want fetch more or less news you have to edit this timestamp.
Newsflash will write this timestamp after every run, so no edit is needed
after the first run.
It is strongly recommended to edit this lists for optimization. The best
configuration depends from your newsserver and your connection,
so you have to play with it.
So it is better to make an entry
comp.os.linux.*
than three entries.
comp.os.linux.hardware
comp.os.linux.newusers
comp.os.linux.misc
but the first entry should always be a single newsgroups to speed up the negotiations. For further information and examples read /usr/share/doc/newsflash/README
